Description
The All Ireland Scholarships was first proposed by JP McManus when he expressed a strong desire to provide funds for the establishment of a third level education scholarship scheme covering the thirty-two counties of Ireland. He stated that the Celtic Tiger will not be around forever and that education will be the key for success in more difficult times. He was also conscious of the cross border dimensions of the proposed scholarship programme and stated that the All Ireland Scholarships scheme should operate on a similar basis North and South.
Benefits
The value of each scholarship is set at €6,750 per annum in Ireland and stg£5,500 per annum in Northern Ireland and will continue for the duration of the undergraduate programmes chosen by the scholarship winners.
Eligibility
To qualify for an All Ireland Scholarship, eligible students should meet the following criteria:
- You must have attended a non-fee paying school.
- You must have completed the Leaving Certificate Examination for the first time.
- You must in receipt of a third level education maintenance grant from Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI), having applied for same on or prior to the SUSI closing date.
- You cannot be a recipient of another third level education scholarship.
Northern Ireland:
- You must be in receipt of the Education Maintenance Allowance
- You must attend a grant aided post primary school or further education college
- An application must be completed before the deadline
- You must sit the A Level Examinations or BTEC Examinations for the first time
- You must not be the holder of another scholarship
