Description
The social scholarship is granted to a student in a difficult financial situation after applying.
The Rector’s scholarship, disability scholarship, and allowance are available to students who began their studies in the academic year 2019/2020 or later, regardless of their citizenship and rules of studies.

Benefits
The scholarship amount depends on the household income raging around from PLN 1,100 to PLN 1,300 per month, generally, in three thresholds – the lower the income, the higher the threshold, and the amount of the scholarship. The amount of the scholarship may be increased by approximately PLN 250, e.g., in the case of orphanhood. It is granted for a semester (4 or 5 months), and paid monthly, by wire transfer to the student’s bank account.
Eligibility
The social scholarship is available for international students who meet one of the conditions:
- are citizens of the EU, Swiss Confederation, or member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or their family members living on the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- have a permanent residence permit or are long-term residents of the EU;
- were granted a temporary residence permit concerning the circumstances referred to in the Art. 159 section 1 or the Art. 186 section 1 point 3 or 4 of the Act on Foreigners of 12 December 2013;
- have a refugee status granted in the Republic of Poland or benefit from temporary or subsidiary protection on the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- have a Polish as a foreign language certificate on a C1 level referred to in the Art. 11a section 2 of the Act of 7 October 1999;
- have the Pole’s Card or a decision about being confirmed as a person of Polish descent;
- are a spouse in the ascending or descending line of the citizen of the Republic of Poland living on the territory of Poland;
- were granted a temporary residence permit concerning the circumstances referred to in the Art. 151 section 1 or the Art. 151b section 1 of the Act on Foreigners of 12 December 201 or stay in the Republic of Poland due to a short-term researcher’s mobility referred to in the Art. 156b section 1 of this Act, or have a national visa for scientific research or development works.

Students apply for a scholarship in USOSweb (Common section tab > Applications), print, and deliver to the University within a specified time limit in person or by the post office. More information is available in the Financial aid tab > Application process.
The scholarships are not taxed, and there is no need to declare them in an annual tax return in Poland.
