Description
The UniCares Bursaries are designed to support undergraduate students who have experienced significant personal challenges before entering higher education. The scheme is available to students who have been in local authority care, are irreconcilably estranged from their parents, or have unpaid caring responsibilities for another person.
Benefits
Care-Experienced and Estranged Student Bursary
£2,500 per progressive year of study.
Young Adult Carers Bursary
£1,000 per progressive year of study.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a Home/UK undergraduate student.
- Be ordinarily resident in England.
- Be 25 years old or younger on 1 September of their first year.
- Have a household income of £25,000 or less, as assessed by Student Finance England.
Belong to one of the following categories:
- Care-experienced or care leaver.
- Irreconcilably estranged from parents.
- Young adult carer with unpaid caring responsibilities.
- Attend a UniCares induction meeting and provide the required supporting evidence.
