Description

The Massey University Doctoral Conference Grants offer financial support for doctoral students to present their research at conferences in their discipline. The grant should be used at your discretion to assist with conference registration costs, travel, accommodation, or any other presentation costs incurred.

Applications are considered on a rolling basis throughout the year until funds are exhausted. Selection will occur at the start of each month for applications received in the previous month.

Your presentation should be accepted prior to submission of the grant application. Please ensure you allow sufficient time for the grant to be considered by the selection panel.

Benefits

The value of the award will be determined by the selection panel, up to $1,000 for national conferences and up to $2,000 for international conferences.

  • They're looking for candidates with a new and original contribution, who are lead presenter, and have the full support of their primary supervisor.

Include the following with your application:

evidence that your conference presentation has been formally accepted

a full academic CV, listing any previous publications and conference presentations

a supporting letter from your supervisor

a written statement outlining the conference paper and how it is a new and original contribution. If the conference paper is an extension of previously presented work, this should be stated clearly, and a case made.

a budget outlining an estimate of all expected costs for attending the conference. This should include registration fees, travel, accommodation etc.
