What is your name and age? Where are you from?
My name is Madhvesh and my age is 23 years. I am from Bangalore, India.
What is the name of your university, study programme? When did you start studying?
I study at RWTH Aachen University and my study programme is a Master’s in Computer aided Mechanical Engineering. I started studying in September 2016.
What were your main priorities when choosing your university and your programme? How did you decide?
My primary focus was International environment, teaching quality and a healthy learning atmosphere. RWTH Aachen has all of these and it was an easy choice to make. Positive response from seniors and alumni helped a lot to decide too.
What were the main challenges you had to face before being accepted to your university? How did you overcome it? What would you recommend for the current intake’s applicants?
Lack of information about the university, the course and the country of study are the problems faced by every student. I used StudyPortals, DAAD and other internet sources to know more about it and I recommend all my friends to do the same.
What are three things you like most about the university? State the reason.
If you could improve anything about the university, what would it be? How do you plan to improve it?
Because of more than 40,000 students studying here, the operations have some hick ups. Examination season is a bit longer and I would like to reduce it by some organized planning.
What are three things you like the most about the city? Why?
1) Atmosphere – With more than 40,000 students, the city gives me a healthy and enjoyable atmosphere.
2) Vicinity – The city is small and accessibility is very good to all the places around. Public transport is good.
3) Hospitability – People are friendly and is very easy for international students to gel with the locals.
If you could improve anything about the city, what would it be?
Well, weather is unstable at many times. I would always pray for a better weather.
What was the biggest surprise in your study adventure? Did you like it?
I used to experience cultural shocks on a daily basis. Gradually, I got used to it and learned a lot. The quality of education is surprisingly efficient. I like it a lot.
How would you rate your experience on a scale from zero to ten (0 – It is/was a total disaster, 10 – I have/had the time of my life)?
I rate my experience 8 out of 10. It has been a very good experience till now.
Is there anything that you would do differently if you could do it over again? Why?
If given a chance, I would try to know more people and make new friends than I have today. Friends always make every experience better.
What are your future plans after graduating?
I would like to stay in this country and gain some professional experience after my graduation.
Share your favourite spot, at the university and the city with us! Please let us know why do you like it.
My favorite spot in the city is called Ponttsrtasse because it is the food street of Aachen. It is the best place for foodies.
At the university, I like the Sport Centre as it is very well equipped and meets the standard of all the international games.
