St Patricks College, a vibrant and innovative centre of excellence for undergraduate and postgraduate study, is situated centrally in Drumcondra Village within easy reach of Dublin City centre and conveniently accessible by public transport. While we have been at the centre of Irish life for almost a century and a half, our energy is firmly focussed on the future. We are a college of Dublin City University, one of Europes best young universities.

St Patrick's College was established in 1875 to meet the teacher training needs of a denominational primary school system. The College was initially based at numbers 1 & 2 Drumcondra Road, moving to its present site at Belvedere House in 1883. During the Presidency of Fr. Peter Byrne CM, in the 1880s and 1890s, an extensive building programme was undertaken.

Housing services

  • No one wants to live too far away from campus. Besides the commuting, you might miss out on much of the enjoyment that is university life. In total, there are over 1,200 rooms distributed between the Glasnevin (c1,000 rooms) and St Patrick's campuses (240 rooms) for all undergraduate students.

The main College buildings house a range of facilities including inter alia large, medium and small lecture theatres, teaching and seminar rooms, College chapel, student canteen and dining room, large auditorium, well stocked library, IT facilities, Education Resource Centre, modern gymnasium, art rooms, language lab, and student residences for 300 students.

Sports facilities

DCU Sport offers state of the art facilities incorporating health and wellness to meet all your exercise and leisure needs. DCU Sport comprises the University Sports Complex, the DCU Sports Grounds and our 5-a-side Soccer Centre. We have a wide range of facilities at the University Sports Complex, including pool, tepidarium, sauna, steam room, spa pool, sports halls and studios as well as a fitness centre with over 100 pieces of equipment.

Student clubs

There are over 140 Clubs & Societies in DCU  spread across campuses and they cater for all interests, hobbies and passions. You can even set up your own! From developing existing skills to trying something completely new, joining a DCU club or society is one of the best decisions you will make in DCU. Involvement in club and society activity gives you a welcome break from your academic studies and the skills and competencies gained through committees and other organisational work will really enhance your CV and give you that extra edge in the your future career.
