As the northernmost university in Germany, Europa-Universität Flensburg is a young university, having previously been called the "College of Education" (1946-1994) and with 5,000 students and 400 employees it is is able to provide quality education and proximity to the students.
Subjects and courses offered at Europa-Universität Flensburg include humanities and theologies, art, textiles and music, educational sciences, teacher education, special education, mathematics, natural sciences, technology, general studies, health and nutrition, language, culture and media studies, European studies, sports science, economics and social sciences.
The main focus is on teacher training and international management.
Europa-Universität Flensburg and the University of Applied Sciences share a Career Center on campus. Among the activities organized by this center are: job fairs, visits to local businesses and work providers, publication of job and internship announcements for students, career counselling, student training courses, etc.

Before the Winter semester starts, the new students are welcomed by "Campus Angels" which assist the students in registering in the university, in finding accommodation, in registering in the city hall, in showing the city and in integrating the new students through the organisation of various group activities.
In the Central Library students eager to learn can find scientific literature. The library serves both students of the Europa-Universtität Flensburg and students of the Unversity of Applied Sciences Flensburg. It provides access to 421,000 books and over 18,000 electronic journals and e-books.
Free WifiAll students can use free wifi in the University Sports Center. Some cardiovascular exercise machines provide direct internet access. By 2016 this service will be available at all machines.
In Germany, all students up to the age of 30 are subject to compulsory health insurance (currently approx. 80 € monthly).
