A great balance of interaction and learning

The classes are very interactive, encouraging students to participate actively and share their thoughts. The teaching material is concise, focusing on the most important aspects, which makes studying more efficient. Additionally, every subject includes projects, which is a great way to apply what we've learned in practice. The staff is supportive and always willing to help, which creates a welcoming learning environment. However, I do wish more attention was given to practical work, as it would better prepare us for real-world challenges.

UACS Review

I am currently in my second year of studies at the University American College Skopje, and I am delighted to share my experiences and reflections on my academic journey thus far. My time at the university has been an engaging and enriching experience, providing me with a solid foundation in both object-oriented and functional programming. The curriculum's emphasis on these programming paradigms has not only honed my coding skills but also instilled a deep appreciation for efficient and elegant code design. One of the highlights of my academic exploration has been my introduction to the world of machine learning. The university's curriculum has exposed me to the fascinating realm of machine learning, igniting a passion within me to delve deeper into this field. The blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in machine learning has opened my eyes to the immense possibilities that lie ahead in this rapidly evolving domain. In terms of programming languages, I have developed a strong command over fundamental languages such as C++, allowing me to tackle complex problem-solving tasks with confidence. Additionally, my grasp of C# and Xaml has enabled me to venture into front-end development, adding a dynamic dimension to my skill set. Notably, I am actively pursuing the mastery of web development technologies, including HTML/CSS and JavaScript, while also diving into advanced frameworks like React and ASP.NET. This knowledge has empowered me to create interactive and user-friendly web applications, complete with APIs developed through ASP.NET. Moreover, my foray into database management has equipped me with the ability to design efficient data storage solutions, further enhancing the quality of my projects. Beyond technical skills, my journey at the university has also exposed me to the realms of UI/UX design, marketing, and branding. This well-rounded exposure has provided me with a unique perspective during the development process, ensuring that the products I work on are not only functional but also aesthetically appealing and market-friendly. What sets me apart as a student is my analytical mindset and exceptional problem-solving abilities. I thrive in collaborative team environments, valuing the exchange of ideas and collective efforts that lead to innovative solutions. My willingness to embrace challenges head-on and my capacity to adapt swiftly to new technologies make me an asset to any project or team. In conclusion, my experience at the University American College Skopje has been nothing short of inspiring. The robust academic foundation in programming, the exposure to machine learning, and the broadening of my skill set in web development and design have positioned me on a trajectory of growth and success. With each new challenge, I am equipped with the tools and knowledge to not only overcome obstacles but to excel and innovate. I eagerly look forward to the next chapters of my academic journey and the remarkable opportunities that await.

Student services

We know how it feels to start your higher education studies and we work hard to make things easy for you, especially in the initial few weeks.

Therefore, at the beginning of each semester, new Cypriot and international students participate in one of the orientation seminars.

Each orientation seminar concludes with a tour of all College facilities. Particular attention is given to the College library, where students are introduced to the variety of services it has to offer. Orientation seminars and tours run before the start of each semester and during the first few weeks of each semester.

Housing services

A comprehensive accommodation service is available to all American College students who are looking for a place to live. Help and advice is given on all aspects relating to housing and accommodation and an up-to-date list of proposed places and a list of estate agencies is made available.

Our students can choose from a great range of accommodation options such as a room in hostels or convenient private apartments and houses within walking distance from the College.

Library services

The library is well-equipped with a wide range of books, academic journals, periodicals and electronic and digital material in order to meet the educational needs of students as well as the professional needs of the faculty staff.

The library is specially designed for reading purposes with plastic flooring and double-glazing in order to reduce noise.

ICT services

Equipped with state of the art hardware and up to date software, the College computer facilities, among a few of its kind in Cyprus, aim to satisfy the needs of the teaching, research and administration functions of the College.

Our high quality integrated technology facilities adequately support the needs of our students.

Campus life

Situated at the heart of Nicosia, American College gives students the best of both worlds: the cultural world of museums, art galleries and theatres, and the entertainment world of cinemas and late-night clubs, all within walking distance from the College.

Moreover, our students are spoiled for choice when it comes to drinking and eating in and around the College. There is an abundance of cafes, pubs, bars, clubs, taverns and a range of local and international restaurants with prices and menus set with students in mind.

Sports facilities

For those who are interested in sports activities, besides the gym center of the College, there are municipal swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, and running tracks.

You can also join a private health club, from those providing fitness classes to all-inclusive sports complexes at major hotels. Hiking and cycling are two other popular pastimes in Nicosia, which offers well-defined and maintained trails.

Student clubs

Classes and studying are very important to students but students need to strike a balance between their academic and social involvement.

A great way to do this is through student clubs and societies. College administration staff, in cooperation with the Students’ Union, assist with the organization of various clubs.

Some of the clubs on campus are the following: Dancing Club, Singing Club, Journalist Club, Chess Club, Photography Club, Events Club, Health Club, Movie Club, Foosball Club and Cyprus Tour Club.

Accreditation

Most of our programs are accredited by the Cyprus Accreditation Council. This confirms the status and standard of the College’s programs of study within Cyprus and abroad, and is indicative of the quality and recognition maintained by the College.
