As early as in 1842, in the same year as the elementary school was established in Sweden, the decision was taken to place a teachers’ education college in Härnösand.

Mid Sweden University does not provide student accommodation. However, we cooperate closely with student housing companies in each campus city and recommends different housing companies in Härnösand, Sundsvall and Östersund. The choice of housing varies from campus to campus, but all types of student accommodation in Sweden are generally of a high standard.
The Mid Sweden University Library provides access to a variety of printed and electronic materials such as books, articles, journals, theses and research publications etc. To search for materials, you can use the search box (Primo) below, or any of our access points in the menu.
Most computer labs are open to all students except some that are tailored for a particular course. Computer labs can be occupied for teaching but is otherwise available around the clock.
The Student Health Centre provides preventive health care for students at Mid Sweden University and is a complement to the public health care system. If you are sick and need to see a doctor you should contact the Public Health Centre.
Sundsvall is located about 400 kilometres north of Stockholm and with its approximately 94 000 inhabitants, it is one of the biggest cities in Northern Sweden.
The main educational focus at Campus Sundsvall lies within the Natural Sciences, Technology, and Media, but it is also possible to study within the areas of Social Sciences and Health Sciences.
The region of Sundsvall is today Northern Sweden’s largest job market, and in this milieu, the university of course has a distinct place and function.
The prized building “Kulturmagasinet” harbours a library and a museum with ever changing exhibitions and events. The sports ground “Norrporten arena,” which is situated in the middle of the city, offers football and other big events. In Sundsvall, we have elite teams in football, ice-hockey, and basket ball. In addition, we also have world class swimmers. For adventurous people there are among other things opportunities for parachute jumping, diving, mountain climbing, and shooting the rapids.
You find the students’ union office on campus. There you will also find the chairman of the students’ union, the vice chairman, a manager, and the students’ union counselling, who will be able to answer most of your practical questions. In the middle of the centre of the city, you find the beautiful students’ union building, which partly is listed and protected as a historical monument.
