History
The University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna is the only academic and research institution in Austria that focusses on the veterinary sciences and the oldest such institution in the German-speaking world. It was founded in 1765.

Student services
Student Services of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna is responsible for processing study applications, course and examination registrations, recognition of examinations, issuing of transcripts and the nostrification of foreign degrees.
Housing services
In order to help you finding an accomodation near our university’s campus or in the city center, we kindly supply you with a list of hotels in Vienna. Please understand that we cannot cover your travel and accommodation expenses and we can not do the booking for you.
Library services
The university library is open to all but in particular for the use of the following individuals:
- Members and graduates of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna
- Members and graduates of other Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences (courses at universities of applied sciences)
- Persons aged 14 and over
ICT services
The IT Services department supplies the entire university with the necessary IT infrastructure. Its duties include the administration of the IT network on campus, pre-selection and purchase of hard- and software and expert assistance with such matters, database and Web application management for administration and teaching, development and administration of special information systems.
Campus life
The excellent infrastructure of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna (Vetmeduni Vienna) facilitates small conventions and conferences on the university campus.
A total of eight lecture halls of various sizes, two meeting rooms as well as a generous and bright banquet hall are available for meetings and events and feature state-of-the-art technology including video projector, screen, slide projector and amplifier (large lecture halls and ballroom). Furthermore, we can provide access to other facilities upon request including the lobby in front of the ballroom - an ideal place for relaxing breaks before an event - or the assembly hall below the ballroom.
Student clubs
The Students' Union of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna - HVU for short - represents students' interest to the University Management, non-university institutions and the public.
