Since its creation in 1973, the Université Lumière Lyon 2 has been committed to a strong and demanding vision of Higher Education and Research, driven by a spirit and values that are also its trademark: human and humanistic, committed and supportive, democratic and civic-minded.

Education

A founding member of the aggregation of universities and higher education institutions known as the COMUE Université de Lyon, the Université Lumière Lyon 2 welcomes nearly 30,000 students on two campuses to its bachelor's, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

Its thirteen faculties and institutes offer a wide range of courses in four areas of education and research: Arts, Literature, Languages / Law, Economics, Management / Humanities and Social Sciences / Sciences, Technology, Health.

Research

Covering a very broad spectrum of disciplines in the Human and Social Sciences, the university is developing cutting-edge research in each of its fields. Sensitive to the concerns and issues of society such as gender, education, work, the city, disability, it participates fully in social progress through its research programs and numerous actions to disseminate knowledge.

With thirty-two laboratories and eight research federations, covering the fields of Letters - Languages - Human and Social Sciences, the university is committed to innovation, interdisciplinarity, partnership and international openness.

Career

The SCUIO-IP's Internship and Integration Pole manages student internships, offers them job search assistance and documentation on the regional economic fabric.

The counsellors will inform you about the internship possibilities to which you are entitled (compulsory or optional internships, voluntary internships, internships abroad) and the steps to be taken.

Services

Student services

The International relations department ensures the international openness of the university. Its role is to:

  • Coordinate and promote international student and staff mobility
  • Host international delegations
  • Develop international cooperation agreements and projects
  • Promote our academic and research programs at an international level
  • Support and develop the internationalisation at home – from the academic curriculum, to the interactions between home and international students and faculty.

Library services

The university has two main libraries, one on each campus, in which collections are sorted according to areas of studies.

ICT services

Libraries are equipped with Wi-Fi as well as Ethernet ports (cables not provided) and electric outlets Students may also use one of the Chevreul library’s 150 open-access Macintosh computersor the Bron library’s 41 computers; with these students may access to the university’s resource catalogue, databases, the library’s web pages, the “Applis” service and the online learning platform, Moodle.

Medical services

The Université Lumière Lyon 2 has a health service, the “Service de Santé Universitaire ou SSU ». You can make an appointment with a doctor there.

The university has a support service for students with disabilities, the “Mission Handicap”. The “Mission Handicap” is there to welcome students with disabilities and help them succeed their studies.

With almost 30,000 students, our two main campuses, Berges du Rhône and Porte des Alpes, boast a range of facilities.

Located at the heart of the Lyon Metropolis, both campuses offer a dynamic and exciting student lifestyle, with extensive sporting amenities, handy on-campus services and a range of cafes and restaurants.

I think it hasn't been the greatest experience because unfortunately, we faced Covid19 in France and got many cases so all courses were online classes. We weren't really guided and as law students we were so many of us that it wasn't that easy to get help as an international student. But at the end of my two years I can tell, I had a great education, classes were really...

Nice university with an old infrastructure, amazing and severe professor. A lot of resources such as library and sport center.
