History

Polytechnic University of Turin has been one of the most prestigious public institutions at both the International and the Italian level concerning education, research, technological transfer and services in all sectors of architecture and engineering for more than 150 years (it was founded in 1859, as the oldest technical university in Italy).

Research

Politecnico di Torino is a “Research University” that is particularly focused on the balanced development of fundamental and applied research. The Departments coordinate research in four macro- areas: Industrial Engineering; Information Technologies; Management and Matemathics for Engineering; Civil and Environmental Engineering, Architecture and Industrial Design.

Services

Housing services

Politecnico di Torino has signed some agreements with housing companies to help international students in finding an accommodation.

In the framework of the above-mentioned agreements, exchange students can benefit from a priority booking on the accommodation offered by the housing companies. 

The other students, out of the exchange programs, can consult the offers in the housing companies website.

Library services

In order to facilitate the access to university books and other educational work, EDISU Piemonte runs two libraries. All students enrolled in the Universities of Piedmont can gain admission to this service by taking along an enrolment certificate for the current academic year. 

Medical services

  • The immigration law requires you to take out a health insurance during your stay in Italy.
  • As an alternative, once in Italy you can take out a private insurance through an Italian insurance company, that will cover urgent medical assistance (surgery and accidents) in the Emergency Room (Pronto Soccorso) of any hospital.

Campus life

Campuses of the Politecnico di Torino draw inspiration from the structure of Anglo-Saxon ones, with multipurpose buildings for teaching, basis and applied research and services to the students in Turin, and a regional network of technological centers (Alessandria, Biella, Mondovì, Verrès), dedicated to research activities, technological transfer, specialist education and services to the region.

Sports facilities

  • C.U.S. Torino (Centro Universitario Sportivo) organises physical training and sports activities for students and academic staff. Students can practice different sports, the most popular being soccer, skiing, swimming, basketball, tennis, volleyball and aerobics.
  • All sporting events are conducted at the C.U.S . facilities and grounds in different areas of the city.
  • Special events are organised for foreigners and easy terms are applied, please check with the C.U.S.

i don't have enough experience in this uinversity

I am an active, vibrant student, I love to learn everyday and I have goals and ambition in life that I am willing to work hard for.

Personally, I was not satisfied with my experience there because a lot of focus in the course was mostly on theoretical subjects whereas it should be more practical. University is a great chance to develop your skills and get ready for a career but unfortunately, it was not like that in Polito and we spent most of our time on the subjects that we may not use in our career...
