History

Ever since the institution's foundation in 1855 as a Weaving School, technical students from both inside and outside Germany have always been keen to train and study in Reutlingen.

Research

Reutlingen University is a successful partner in applied research and development. Our central academic facility, the Reutlingen Research Institute, actively includes students in research projects and is the initial point of contact for organising research projects.

Career

Reutlingen University offers all its students individual support in matters concerning job applications and careers. There are different contact persons for different areas:

  • The central Career Service advises all students in the Schools of Chemistry, Informatics, Engineering, and Textiles & Design.
  • Students at the ESB Business School should contact the ESB Career Center.
  • Students with questions concerning an industrial placement/internship abroad, as well as international students should contact Reutlingen International Office.

The Reutlingen University Student Office is the first point of contact for all interested persons, be they applicants, students or former students.

Housing services

Living directly next to the campus in one of our student dorms is the ideal way to coordinate your academic and private life. Whether it’s to be an apartment, a single room just for you, or a double room shared with a fellow student: your very own four walls are furnished and just waiting for you to move in!

Library services

The University Library is a joint institution with Reutlingen University, Staatliches Seminar für Didaktik und Lehrerbildung (Realschulen) Reutlingen and Fachseminar für Sonderpädagogik Reutlingen and provides students, staff and faculty of the participating organisations with various types of media.

Student Life

Campus life

Our unique research building, covering 7,700 square metres, accommodates the extensive workshops for textile teaching and experimentation. The large laboratories for the spinning of cotton, worsted and woollen yarns, weaving, weft and warp knitting, and textile finishing are located in this building.

Whether you spend your lunch break in the cafeteria (“Mensa”), work off your surplus energy in sports activities, or take part in rehearsals with the University orchestra: on Campus there is always lots do!

If you would like to actively take part in Campus life and get to know the University’s sports activities, orchestra, choir or theatre better, just come along and join in!

Sports facilities

Sports activities at the University range from A for Aerobics to Y for Yoga – there is something for everyone! All students and staff at Reutlingen University and from the School of Special Education at the Ludwigsburg University of Education can take part - free! You don’t have to enrol, just come along and join in!

Student clubs

The Tübingen-Hohenheim Students‘ Union is responsible for services such as social and other kinds of support for students: among other things, it is concerned with catering, accommodation, child care, health promotion and advice, social services for foreign students and help with obtaining financial support.
