International Welcome Programme (IWP) is a special orientation programme that runs prior to Freshers’ week each September and February. It includes events, activities and information sessions to help acclimatise new international students to living and learning in the UK during the main University arrival period. IWP is primarily a social programme that allows students to settle in, make friends and get used to being in the UK before their academic Faculty induction and enrolment that happens during the week following IWP.

The on-campus halls of residence are the most convenient type of accommodation available. For students studying at Treforest or Glyntaff, the on-campus accommodation is situated at the main campus (Treforest), and facilities including the Learning Resources Centre, The Centre for Sport, Health & Exercise and Students Union are close by.
The Hydra computer simulation system, owned by only a few Universities across the world, is used to train Police, and allows academic staff to construct complex operational scenarios to test the operational and managerial capabilities of students.
