All PhD positions are advertised and the recruitment is typically done by the research leader of the intended project. No general entry to graduate studies is available. At the Faculty for Forest Sciences about 40 PhD students per year begin projects within SLU's competence areas. Most positions are advertised internationally and the selection process strives to identify candidates suitable for graduate studies and research.
At the faculty are a number of larger and smaller research. Partly in the form of so-called thematic research, as well as other types of major initiatives in collaboration with other research actors, both nationally and internationally. Researchers at the Faculty are also involved in various EU programs.
