The school's main missions concern initial and further education, research, international scientific and technical cooperation and sustainable development in Agriculture, Agri-Food Science, Environment and Rural Management The institute offers courses specifically dedicated to innovation in Mediterranean, tropical and sub-tropical issues



  • 1842-Setting up of the Institute at la Saulssaie (located in the east of France) that will become the Regional Institute of Agricultural Sciences in 1848.


This National Institute of Further Education in Agricultural Science offers a full range of courses from Bachelor of Science Degree level vocational qualifications to PhD level, as well as a range of agricultural engineering training curricula.


Montpellier SupAgro subscribes to a strategy including all Joint Research Units (UMR) SupAgro is involved in 21 UMR, which are mainly affiliated to INRA and CIRAD.

This strategy allows Montpellier SupAgro to:

  • Have access to an extensive range of skills
  • Assist teacher 's research pathways with flexibility, all being members of at least one UMR
  • Orientate its training offers according to the agricultural pole of expertise / research cluster


The Junior Entreprise (JEMA), a junior consulting / business service, is a non -profit making association (under the law of 1901). It allows Montpellier SupAgro students to work for companies.

Located on campus, students enrol according to skill. They are mainly called upon to conduct studies in the agronomy and agribusiness sectors. Their services can be matched with the requests from a range of customers: entrepreneurs, small and medium sized enterprises, large national or international groups, associations and so on. Businesses benefit from working with Montpellier SupAgro future agricultural engineers who are in touch with specialist teaching staff and researchers.

  • Montpellier SupAgro Student Halls of Residence

More than 600 places are available in the student's Halls of Residence near Campus de La Gaillarde of Montpellier SupAgro. Find a sense of community here with your fellow students. The heart of Montpellier is only a short walk away and there is a range of services available to the residents.

  • 'Les Hameaux' Residence: 336 flats with wheelchair access to 10
  • ‘L’Ambuscade’ Cafeteria is inside the ‘Les Hameaux’ halls of residence - open to resident students only

Library services

Montpellier SupAgro has one main library and two documentation centers open to the public and located on two sites: La Gaillarde in Montpellier and the Florac Campus in the Lozère region.

Medical services

  • Residents from the European Economic Area, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, or Quebec should present documents covering all the risks of diseases, hospitalisation, accident, liability insurance.
  • Residents from outside the European Economic Area: If you are under 28 years old you must subscribe to the French Health Care (Sécurité Sociale).
