About

History

In 1527, Landgrave Philip the Magnanimous of Hesse founded the first Protestant university in the world in Marburg, which still exists today. It has been named after its founder since the early 20th century.

Education

At Philipps University, people with different ideas of good teaching come together in very different contexts. It is clear that the perspective on teaching is subject to constant change.

Our goal as an institution is to give teachers and learners the space and framework they need to implement and develop their ideas about good teaching.

Research

Advances in knowledge arise from outstanding achievements in the individual sciences. They form the basis for the interaction and the mutual thematic and methodical fertilization of subjects and specialist cultures. Research is then bundled in interdisciplinary collaborations - within the Philipps University, with partners in the region and worldwide.

Career

Studying is a new phase in life. This includes many questions. You can find answers to questions before and during your studies at the numerous advisory institutions at Philipps University. The Marburger Studientelefon (Stud-i-fon) offers quick initial information and mediation to the special advisory services, which range from general study advice to advice in departments to student study advice.

Student Life

Campus life

In order to master the studies well, the general conditions outside the lectures have to be right. For example, the cafeteria menu is one of the most requested information outside teaching. At the beginning of the study, leisure and cultural initiatives can help to gain a foothold in Marburg. And solid student financing is part of the basis for learning.

I like that the course is very practice-oriented.

The university, the professors and the contents are great! Sadly the entire organisation is a mess and I have to invest way to much time dealing with this myself. The capacity for lectures and courses is often too small, you don‘t get in but need to, which usually means days or weeks of E-Mails and discussions. At least the content and the professors make up for it!
