History
The university was founded as a winter school for building craftsmen on the lower Königstrasse opposite the King's stables at the time. The historic Egle Building (today's Building 1) was built by Joseph von Egle between 1867 and 1873 at the Stadtgarten. In 1918, as the Königlich Württembergische Baugewerkeschule, it was the largest of the then 67 building schools in Germany with 923 students.
Education
Fields of study are architecture, civil engineering, building physics, computer science, interior design, mathematics, geomatics and business management. The practice-oriented education is characterized by supervision in small learning and semester units and the professional experience of all professors. A one-semester practical study project is integrated in all bachelor's programmes. Through this practical semester our students gain valuable first work experience during their studies and establish contacts with companies and offices.
Research
The majority of our research projects are characterized by highly interdisciplinary cooperation that facilitates the holistic investigation of complex, future-oriented topics.

An Amazing Platform
I had a wonderful experience using Studyportals! The platform made it so easy to compare programs, tuition fees, and entry requirements from different universities all around the world. I especially liked how clear and detailed the information was — it really helped me make a confident decision about where to study. The search filters and student reviews gave me a realistic idea of what to expect, and the application tips were incredibly helpful. If there’s one thing that could be improved, it might be adding even more verified student testimonials for newer universities. Overall, my study experience has been amazing, and I’m really thankful for how Studyportals simplified the process. I would highly recommend it to any student exploring study options abroad!
My experience at HFT Stuttgart
I am very satisfied with the quality of teaching I received at HFT. Our professors were very good at linking theoretical learning with practical application areas in industry. However, the organization of the university was not always satisfactory.

Its not always well organized and can be confusing. Still, if youre connected and perceptive, its all managable. The buildings are rather old, but suitable for a academic institution.
