The School of Social Sciences and Humanities was founded in 2014 as part of HSE’s new policy to create big faculties which unite areas of teaching and research to provide education in humanities and social sciences to international standards.
Big faculties are subject clusters, they contain schools or departments set up on the basis of existing faculties, divisions or departments and also laboratories, research centres and other sections.
Since September 2014 the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at HSE’s St Petersburg campus comprises Departments of Sociology, History and Public Administration, as well as Department of Asian and African Studies.
