At the request of Bishop Hickey of Rochester, five Sisters of St. Joseph — with newly-minted Ph.D.’s that included graduate study at Oxford University and the Sorbonne — founded Nazareth College in 1924. Committed to academic excellence, these pioneering women inspired the first class of 25 young women to stretch to their potential.

Just like our students, all of our buildings have different personalities. We have contemporary, corridor-style halls, older halls designed to reflect the tradition of Nazareth, apartments, suites, and even a converted mansion. Many residence halls are connected to academic buildings by a series of tunnels, so you can wear shorts and flip-flops to class, even in the winter months.
The Health Center offers a few over-the-counter medications to students. Additionally, the Nazareth College Bookstore has a large inventory of medications.
A great setting for learning, connecting with others, and having fun: More than 150 acres of expansive lawns, shady woodland groves, and landscaped gardens provide the perfect backdrop for studying or kicking around a soccer ball. It's easy to get around to activities on campus or nearby. Students, faculty, and alumni alike come to campus to enjoy athletic events at the Golden Flyer Stadium and music and theatre at the Arts Center.
Whether you're a hard-core athlete, a competitive intramural player, an avid exerciser, or a spectator on the sidelines, Nazareth has something for everyone.
