History
In 1924 High Point College opened as a cooperative venture between the Methodist Protestant Church and the City of High Point. The campus consisted of three partially completed buildings, there were nine faculty members, and student enrollment was 122.
Education
High Point University announced in October 2007 that it was doubling its investment in academic programs, student life, scholarships and construction of new facilities. The university’s board of trustees approved doubling the investment in the university from $110 to $225 million over a period of three years. The campus transformation is made possible through gifts, bonds and operating revenues.
Research
The High Point University Survey Research Center (SRC) conducts high quality public affairs and social science research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods. Student work and ideas are at the core of the SRC’s approach to pursuing interdisciplinary research projects and communicating its findings to the public.

Student services
The Office of Student Accounts is here to help you work through any issues you may have regarding your student account. We are available to any current student, parent or member of the university community to answer questions about a range of account issues, including:
- Billing
- Payment of tuition & fees and the Student Account Center
- Enrollment and payment of Student Health Insurance
- Enrollment and payment of the new Tuition Protection Plan
- Administration of Tuition Management Systems Monthly Payment Plan
- Administration of University Dining Plan enrollment for students living on campus
Housing services
High Point University is committed to providing some of the finest residential communities and options in private higher education in the country. With over 99% of our incoming first year students coming from 45 states other than North Carolina and many foreign countries, High Point University is by design a very residential campus.
Library services
We have several library spaces at High Point University: Herman H. and Louise M. Smith Library is the main library and holds the majority of our book collection; the Wanek Center Learning Commons is our quiet study space with a young adult and popular fiction collection; and our most recent library is the School of Education Curriculum Center.
ICT services
Laptops and graphing calculators are available for check out at the circulations desks in both Smith Library and the Wanek Center Learning Commons. They are available to check out for up to 4 hours.
Medical services
Student Health Services is available to all full-time High Point University students for:
- medical examinations and treatment of acute illness and injuries
- treatment and management of chronic conditions, such as diabetes and asthma
- 24 hour nurse phone triage service
- minor medical procedures, such as suturing, incision and drainages of abscesses and skin lesion removal
- routine gynecological services
Campus life
The Aldridge Village at High Point University features their own “mini” campus with a pool, basketball court, volleyball court, dining facility and a security satellite station which is manned 24 hours daily. Having 540 parking spaces, there will be ample parking for all however, driving will not be necessary because a rotating shuttle will arrive every 15 minutes.
Sports facilities
Weight/Fitness/Cardio Areas, Gymnasium, 2 Mulit Purpose Courts, 1/10-mile Indoor Three-lane Track, Maynard Pool (heated pool with hot tub), Outdoor Basketball Court, Sand Volleyball Court, Group Exercise Studio.
Student clubs
The Office of Student Activities works to plan a calendar jam-packed with fun and exciting opportunities. Every week we offer a variety events from Monday movies in the Extraordinaire Cinema, Wednesday Night Live events such as coffee houses or karaoke, and venture trips off campus to different places in the surrounding community. All activities are complimentary to our students! Students can find out about upcoming events through Facebook and Twitter and the Campus Concierge Daily Email.
