The University of Toulouse gathers many research and Higher Education Institutions throughout the Midi-Pyrenées region. Over 100.000 students are enrolled in its 23 higher education member institutions and 7 research organizations.

The École des Docteurs has a unique dedicated International PhD Office, federated the 15 doctoral schools, providing information, advice and support for PhD candidates wishing to study abroad and international students wishing to enroll in a PhD programmes at the Université de Toulouse."L'École des Docteurs" representing a total of 9,100 research personnel, including 5,100 academic staff and 4,300 PhD students, with 900 PhDs awarded per year. It covers all scientific domains and it is located in the Occitanie region.


The students are trained to take up the challenges of the future in many areas: economy, societal issues, energy, transport, information, nutrition... The fact that one graduate in two studying in Toulouse comes from other regions in France or from abroad clearly illustrates the scope of its influence.


The scientific strategy of the University of Toulouse is based on a dual approach consisting in fostering emerging projects and steering strategic research initiatives. It is deployed in three phases:

  • identifying the major research strengths of the site
  • implementing Strategic Thematic Actions defined in line with the scientific and socio-économic challenges
  • structuring the site through Interdisciplinary Institutes to be set-up in 2017

Situated between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, in the heart of Southern France and close to the Pyrenees mountain range, the Midi-Pyrenees region has long been a major crossroads in Europe. Attracting 15 000 newcomers every year, Toulouse, the capital of the region which has been fast growing both demographically and economically, boasts a particularly rich vibrant cultural and artistic heritage.

An overall look at this university would be good, some of the teachers are not best at what they teach, nevertheless the courses are enriching and interesting but the level of study is very high
