About

History

The “National Graduate School of Engineering Chemistry of Lille” (École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Lille, ENSCL) was founded in 1894 as the “Institut de Chimie de la Faculté des Sciences de Lille”.It is a public institution of higher learning supervised by the Ministry of National Education

Education

ENSCL’s courses in the engineering curriculum aim to train engineers not only in chemistry and physical chemistry, but also in chemical engineering and engineering sciences, so they are able to quickly adapt to different aspects of the engineering profession in a chemical, parachemical or metallurgical company.

Research

The research policy of ENSCL is based on the Institut Michel-Eugène Chevreul or the Institute of Molecules and Condensed Matter of Lille (IMMCL). It is a federation of research labeled by the CNRS within two tutoring institutions, Lille University1 and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Lille. The Chevreul Institute regroups the laboratories of the ENSCL, a laboratory of the Lille1 University (LASIR UMR 8516) and works in partnership with the Ecole des Mines of Douai and the Maubeuge Materials & Processes Laboratory. The aim of the Chevreul institute is to establish a "chemistry & materials" cluster in the Nord-Pas de Calais region.

Services

Student services

The Board of Pupils is composed of a Council and several Poles which manage the associative life of the school. It offers many activities and evenings, and deals with the integration of the 1st years within the school. Its members are also available to guide new students, particularly in their search for housing.

Student Life

Sports facilities

ENSCL and the University of Science and Technology (Lille1) encourage all their students to exercise and sign up for sports both recreational and competitive. Physical education is obligatory in the first year of the engineering program.

To this end, we offer, with the help of a large Physical and Sporting Activities University Service (SUAPS) the means to participate in several physical activities, such as : soccer, rugby, basketball, volleyball, handball, field hockey, track and field, cross-country, tennis and many more. The Sports Office (BDS), run by students for students, is another tool that is used to promote sports within our structure for any level of play.

Student clubs

  • Student Office (BDE)

The purpose of this association, comprised of second year students, is to represent its members, improve students’ working conditions, organise leisure activities for the entire school, prepare an annual school gala, participate in student events and establish close ties to the administration, the students and the alumni.

  •  "Chimie Lille Études" Association

This association was created in 1983 and is governed legally by the 1st of July 1901 as a non-profit association. It is managed by students that take their skills and the School’s state-of-art equipment and make both available to interested companies.

Studying abroad: Make sure to pick the right university in the right city.

Studying in France has been a quite interesting experience so far, especially living in Lille, one of the most welcoming and intercultural cities in France and Europe. The tutors are professional, yet friendly, and the students’ backgrounds are so diverse. The atmosphere is welcoming as an overall.
