CUNY New York City College of Technology

New York City College of Technology is a baccalaureate and associate degree-granting institution committed to providing broad access to high quality technological and professional education for a diverse urban population.

Master's Programmes

The College was founded in 1946, under the name "The New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences." The urgent mission at the time was to provide training to GIs returning from the Second World War and to provide New York with the technically proficient workforce it would need to thrive in the emerging post-war economy.

City Tech has an enrollment of more than 17,000 students in over 66 baccalaureate, associate, and specialized certificate programs including several engineering technology fields as well as architecture, construction, nursing, hospitality management, entertainment technology, dental hygiene, vision care technology, technology teacher training and paralegal training. Non-degree continuing education is also offered, and serves approximately 14,000 students each year.

The Emerging Scholars Program provides students with an opportunity to apply what was learned in the class room to discover new knowledge, solve real-world problems and develop professionally while working with faculty to advance their scholarly endeavors. The program includes specially designed workshops offered by Honors Scholars, the Undergraduate Research Committee and others, preparation of an abstract and participation in the Honors/Emerging Scholars poster session.

The mission of the Professional Development Center, known on campus as "PDC" is to help students and alumni cultivate essential competencies necessary to make informed decisions and take the necessary steps to achieve their career goals. Working closely with the Office of Public Relations, PDC facilitates interaction among undergraduate students, graduate students, alumni, employers, and organizations to create access and opportunities that help students pursue their personal and professional objectives.
