History
Founded in 2008, AMI is in many aspects unique in the landscape of Switzerland’s research institutions.
Education
Adolphe Merkle Institute conducts strategically oriented and programmatically focused scholarly research and develop new technologies. We study and apply nano-based and nano-structured materials. We focus on a soft nanotechnology approach that is based on bottom-up principles and self-assembly nanostrategies.
Research
AMI focuses on research in the domain of soft nanomaterials. The institute strives to be a leader in this area and hosts both fundamental and application-oriented interdisciplinary research programs. Our researchers are currently organized in six research groups, which offer complementary expertise and interests in strategically important areas: BioNanomaterials, Macromolecular Chemistry, Nanoparticles Self-Assembly, Polymer Chemistry and Materials, Soft Matter Physics, and Soft Matter Scattering. Interdisciplinary collaborations between our researchers are the basis for the successful and efficient execution of complex research projects that transcend the boundaries of traditional scientific disciplines.

I am satisfied with my studies.
Overall, my study experience was positive and satisfying. I really liked the clear lessons, supportive learning environment, and the way the subjects were explained, which made learning easier and more interesting. The activities and assignments helped me improve my knowledge and skills. One area that can be improved is having more practical examples and interactive sessions. In summary, my overall study experience was valuable, enjoyable, and helpful for my academic growth.
My University Experience
my experience at the university has been overall positive and full of learning. The academic environment helped me improve my knowledge, discipline, and confidence. Most of the faculty members are supportive and explain concepts clearly, especially during practical sessions and exams. The campus facilities like the library, classrooms, and labs are useful for daily study. I also learned important life skills such as time management, teamwork, and independent learning. while there is always room for improvement in administration and resources, my journey here has helped shape my academic and personal growth. I am grateful for the exposure and opportunities the university provided.
