History

University of the Sciences has prepared students to be leaders and practitioners in the healthcare and science fields for nearly 200 years. USciences has grown to more than 30 degree-granting programs from bachelor’s through doctoral degrees.

Research

The faculty and students of USciences engage in pioneering research spanning basic sciences such as biology, chemistry, nanotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences and physics to socio-behavioral, applied and clinical research. Our research efforts are an extension of the unique academic focus of USciences, to deliver life-saving insights into the causes and cures of chronic illnesses, and continuously improve our health care system.

Services

Student services

  • If you are a high school senior or have earned a high school degree but not taken any college-level courses, you are considered to be a first-year student. Please refer to the USciences Undergraduate Admission page for information regarding deadlines and application requirements for international students.

Housing services

  • The USciences campus is the perfect setting for the University's close-knit community of scholars of all ages. Nestled in the heart of University City, just west of Center City Philadelphia, the campus is bordered by the neighborhood’s stately, tree-lined streets and sits adjacent to sprawling, picturesque Clark Park.

Library services

  • Small but specialized, the collection is particularly strong in pharmacy, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutics, and foreign drug compendia. Other areas of specialization include toxicology, pharmacology, occupational therapy and physical therapy. 

ICT services

The University has extensively purchased computers through Dell Computer Corporation-Higher Education Division. Students, Faculty and Staff who wish to purchase through Dell can go to University of the Sciences page on the Dell website listed below for special discounts.

Medical services

The medical providers at the Student Health Center provide evaluation and treatment of common acute illnesses/conditions & injury evaluation which are not life-threatening; and recommendations for healthcare issues related to sexual health, health promotion and disease prevention.

The University's 23 buildings, sitting on 36 acres, are comprised of both historic structures and modern facilities, including:

  • More than 100 laboratories open to students
  • The leading-edge McNeil Science and Technology Center
  • Three residence halls
  • The Athletic/Recreation Center
  • And the Integrated Professional Education Complex

Sports facilities

  • The Group Fitness Program is designed to provide participants with a variety of choices ranging from hi/low aerobics and yoga to body toning and Spinning. More than 20 sessions a week are offered by certified instructors.
  • Personal Training is a service offered through Campus Recreation and is available for purchase to all students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni with valid campus recreation access.

  • USciences offers multiple opportunities for students to get involved in the prestigious professional associations that will advance their careers, such as the American Chemical Society and APhA’s Academy of Student Pharmacists.
