History
New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) is a private college specialising in early childhood teacher education. The college was founded in 1982. Since then we have gained significant sector recognition for our graduates and New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) approval for our qualifications.
Education
We offer a range of modes of learning to suit your learning style and lifestyle – giving you an enjoyable and high-quality learning experience.
New Zealand Tertiary College’s diploma qualifications are offered to students both with and without practical requirements, depending on whether New Zealand teacher registration is sought.
Students can pathway into a Bachelor of Education (ECE) or a Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) after completing the Level 5 or Level 6 New Zealand Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. Graduates of the Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) are eligible to apply for New Zealand teacher registration.
Research
New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) fosters a strong research culture to benefit both our academic staff and students. Our staff regularly present at conferences, complete higher academic qualifications, write for journals and other professional publications, and acquire research grants for individual and collaborative projects. Our staff are engaged in a variety of research areas including: early childhood studies, teacher education, social science, social psychology, primary education, philosophy of education and arts education.
Career
NZTC provides career guidance to international students through its program specific career guides and access to a network of potential early childhood employers throught New Zealand. Career guides for NZTC qualification are available on request.

NZTC works with reliable homestay organisations that can help you to find a homestay family in Auckland or Christchurch while you are studying with us.
ICT services
Our IT Help is available to support our students with any IT related difficulties they may encounter. Whether you are having trouble converting files or submitting an assessment, there is nothing they have not dealt with before. Simply call or leave an eMessage and one of our dedicated IT Help technicians will contact you as soon as possible.
Medical services
Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while in New Zealand. You may purchase medical and travel insurance through NZTC.
Campus life
NZTC has campuses in both the North and South Island of New Zealand. Both campuses are centrally located within their cities and easily accessible by public transport.
Our North Island campus is located in Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand with a population of more than 1.6 million people, and our South Island campus is in Christchurch with a population of 388,000.
