History
Marmara Educational Institution was established in 1991 with the motto of "From Kindergarten to University" by Hüseyin Şimşek, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of our University, İstanbul Marmara Education Foundation (İMEV) was founded in 1996, and Maltepe University in 1997.
Education
Education principles of our university are summarized with the motto of ‘Free in Thought, Modern in Education and Universal in Science’. Main objective of Maltepe University is to prepare the modern and intellectual youth to the future, and train them as individuals who have internalized the fundamental principles of Turkish Republic, obey all the rules of secular democracy, and who are also active, rational, thinker, reader, researcher, producer, and capable of competing in every field with the world’s youth.
Research
The Scientific Research unit vision is to be an entrepreneurial and innovative world university with its "free in thought, modern in education, universal in science" structure.
Career
In addition to providing you with a good academic equipment during the school desks, the task of the university is to lead the students according to the education they receive and their expectations from life while heading to business life and to ensure that they warm up to the working life.

Perfect University for studying Cinema
I did my master's in this university. Especially in the field of Cinema, this university gave me great opportunities to express myself. I learnt a lot. Also the professors were very great and their knowledge is outstanding

The campus was nice to hang out. The education was qualified. But the transportation was hard if u were using public transportation.
My University Life
Hello, I am an ELT student at Maltepe University. I chose this department because I love English and I find myself quite successful about it. From all of my lesson, I loved Linguistics lessons the most. They were quite interesting to me. Also I did Erasmus last semester. My university provided me this opportunity. My grades have been always high. I am the most successful student in class and department. My score is 3.5 and high.

Student services
- Student Office carries out all student transactions related to education and is responsible for bringing necessary solutions to students’ problems. Its duties are student admissions (for those who are placed via OSYM, the National Student Placement System), keeping records of students’ academic status and graduation procedures, etc.
- The documentation regarding the admissions of international exchange students are sent over to Student Affairs Office for the completion of the registration process after being handled by the International Office.
- Student Affairs Office handles transactions related to all international students, including full-time international students and international exchange students.
Housing services
- The student residence halls and other facilities on the campus of Marmara Education Village are located among the pine trees at the very heart of nature, and are just in 25 -minute distance to downtown Maltepe. The halls, have an accommodation capacity of over 504 students and are three-storeys each, with 2 flats on each floor facing one another. The accommodation comprises of flats for either two or three students with each having their own single or shared study bedroom and shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.
- All flats have 24-hour hot water, kitchens, bathrooms and a common recreation room.
- Students can also benefit from a prepaid landline and for those who care to bring their own laptops
Library services
- Our library was established in the academic year of 1997-1998, the first year of Maltepe University, at Dragos campus. The Library moved to the main campus, Marmara Education Village in the academic year of 2003 – 2004.
- Our library is constantly evolving by acquiring the information and documents (books, e-books,) to meet the requirements of the faculties, graduate and vocational schools.
Medical services
- There is a health center in the campus which provides all facilities in healthcare.
Campus life
- Maltepe University has the largest campus area in Turkey located at the midst of the pine forest named Marmara Education Village which takes place just in 25 minute distance to downtown Maltepe. There are many facilities offered for students and academic stuff like supermarket, canteens, hairdresser, cafe, coffee shop, hotel and patisserie.
- Marmara Education Village (Marmara E?itim Köyü) was founded on 750,000 square meters of indoor space and 300,000 square meters of outdoor space in a wooded area of the Maltepe district on the Asian side of Istanbul. The Marmara Education Village campus is home to Maltepe University's Faculties of Education, Arts and Sciences, Fine Arts, Law, Communications.

Accreditation
- Diploma Supplement, which is an important document of European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) in International Higher Education Area, not only helps the definition of the phases of the graduates’ education understood by different education systems but also gives detailed information about the degrees, levels, and vocational competencies of the graduate.
- Maltepe University automatically issues a Diploma Supplement in English based on the workload of students per lesson (ECTS) to each student free of charge upon graduation since 2009-2010 academic year for the first cycle and since 2011-2012 academic year for the second and the third cycles.
