UCL was established in 1826 in order to open up education in England for the first time to students of any race, class or religion.
UCL Qatar offers a rigorous and dynamic learning environment with two Master's degree programmes, the MA in Library and Information Studies and the MA Museum and Gallery Practice.
At UCL Qatar, research of the highest level is one of our key objectives. To this end, we have developed and implemented research projects across the Arab World, with the assistance of external funding sources such as the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), and through collaborations with regional and international partners. Our flagship research projects include The Origins of Doha Project, as well as archaeological excavations in Sudan and Egypt.
Our research informs our teaching and provides opportunities for our students to gain practical exposure within archaeology and cultural heritage, through site visits, laboratory analysis and library resources.
A key element to our objectives is to work to support the development of Qatar’s cultural heritage sector, as outlined in the National Vision 2030. UCL Qatar provides short training courses for mid-career professionals working within the cultural heritage sector, and staff and students work closely with the countries museums and heritage sector.

Student Accommodation manages UCL's residential properties, providing catered and self-catering accommodation to students during the academic year and to conference organisers, summer schools, groups and individual travellers during vacations. Most of our residences are within walking distance of the main College campus, and range from converted early Victorian townhouses in Bloomsbury to a purpose-built block in Camden Town.
UCL Qatar is rapidly building the premier collection in Qatar for education in cultural heritage and related subjects.
