History
The University of Talca was founded in 1981, as a result of the efforts of various stakeholders to open a university in the region and after the merging of the old headquarters of the University of Chile and the Technical University of the State. As of today, it has become one of the main national benchmarks for public non-profit higher education of excellence.

The Universidad de Talca has four campuses, named after the geographical places where they are located: Talca, Curicó, Colchagua and Santiago. A fifth campus is projected in Linares.
Talca CampusIt is located in the northern part of the capital of the Maule Region, 250 kilometers south of Santiago. The buildings of the Departments of Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Business Sciences and Legal Sciences, the Institutes, Schools, Vice-Presidencies, Technological Centers and various other agencies and administrative services are distributed in a surface of close to 90 000 square meters. Here are also found the Sculptures Park and the Botanical Garden.
Curicó CampusIt is located in the Los Niches sector, to the South-East of the city of Curicó, 50 km north of Talca, and concentrates the programs of the Department of Engineering: Industrial Civil Engineering (day and evening), Computer Sciences Civil Engineering, Mechanical Technical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Construction Engineering and Civil Engineering in Mines. Postgraduate programs are also offered.
Santiago CampusThe Santiago Campus emerged as a space to promote the development of graduate programs of academic excellence and to train highly qualified human resources. In its building at 415 Quebec Street, Providencia district, are located the study premises attached to the Department of Law and Social Sciences and to the Business School, various graduate programs are taught and an exhibition gallery operates. On the new campus building at 2222 Santa Elena, the undergraduate programs are concentrated: Auditing and Control Management Engineering, Business Engineering, Law and Political Sciences and Public Administration.
Colchagua CampusIt is located in the city of Santa Cruz and was created by the joint effort of a group of businessmen from the O'Higgins Region and the Universidad de Talca to develop a project linked to the needs of regional development. It is an academic unit devoted to training Professional Technicians, continuing education for professional and research and development for the regional and national productive sector in strategic areas related to the wine industry.
Linares CampusThe Universidad de Talca will function at the Liceo Diego Portales high school premises (1049 Valentín Letelier Av.) from March 2014, while the corporate facilities are built next to the Salesians high school. Our Academic Institution will offer three senior technician and two professional programs: Senior Technician in Viticulture, in Fruit Growing and in Agricultural Management; and Public Auditor-Accountant and Teacher of Mathematics for high school education. The Corporation currently maintains an information office at the Comendador del Maule building, at 512 Chacabuco Street, Office 208, 2nd floor. The definitive building shall be finished in August 2014. It will have 6 300 squares meters.
Accreditation
The Universidad de Talca was accredited for five years by the Comisión Nacional de Acreditación (National Accreditation Commission) (CNA-Chile). The Agency granted its endorsement to our Academic Institution in the areas of institutional management, undergraduate teaching, research and links with the environment.
The CNA-Chile Institutional Accreditation Agreement No. 79 indicates that this accreditation is valid from November 25, 2009 until November 25, 2014.
