The heritage of the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences is deeply rooted in the traditions of two instutitions founded in Lvov: The Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry of Lvov Polytechnic in Dublany and the Veterinary School of Medicine, founded in 1881. The post-war chapter in the history of the UPWr was opened in the autumn of 1945.

The UPWr is a leader in innovation. In terms of granted patents it ranks 2nd among Polish Universities (79 patents granted in 2015, 310 in the last 5 years). Three of its faculties gained the status of Leading National Research Centre (KNOW) within the framework of Wroclaw Centre for Biotechnology consortium in the field of agricultural sciences. First implementation in Poland of the results of research and development co-financed by the EU was developed at the UPWr and it concerned the technology of permanent retain of water in the soil.

THE RAJ DORM
The Raj Dorm has won the country competition in terms of the most comfortable dormitory in Poland!
They are arranged in modules for 2 or 4 people to share a kitchen and a bathroom (2 single rooms or 2 double rooms in a module). You will need your own kitchen ustensils (plates, cups, pots, pans, etc.). The linen, pillows and blankets are provided by the dormitory services. Three washing machines (payable) are available. Other facilities: TV room, photocopiers, a workout room, bike storage, table tennis, there is a small shop downstairs. The dorm building also accommodates a health care centre.
The Library of UPWr is a unit that meets the needs of all university’s workers and students as far as the scientific and didactic resources are concerned.

The nearest clinics are located several meters from the campus.
Wroclaw - the meeting place! The city is situated on the Odra river and is a unique city with 12 islands and 112 bridges, very well connected with other parts of Wroclaw. Everyone will find a perfect solution for spending their free time. The city organize a lot of indoor and outdoor events, there are many restaurants, clubs and pubs, sports objects, cultural places like cinemas, museums or galleries.
Two campuses are located in the centre of Wroclaw with modern teaching facilities, well-equipped laboratories, lecture halls, and a modern sports centre with its own swimming pool. First campus is located on Plac Grunwaldzki (2 km from Market Square), the second one on Biskupin (less than 4 km from Market Square).
There are Department of Physical Education and Sport with swimming pool and Department of Physical Education and Sport with sport hall on Campus Biskupin. UPWr has an Academic Sports Association (AZS) which offers 18 sport sections. Students have a discount to use an univeristy's indoor swimming pool.
There are 89 Student Scientific Groups at UPWr where students can fulfill both their passion and scientific interests. Each faculty has a numerous SSG which presents their achievements on local and international conferences, students can realize internships or take a different activities to present their scientific results.
