Merging the academic field for a better future
There is a saying: When you love something, the whole world helps you to get what you love. I am a pure Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate and have always hoped to work with renewable and green energy systems. While finding the Master's course, I was sceptical about the current course modules of the major in Smart City. But as soon I started doing my courses, I realized that as an Electrical Engineer, I now have a target field to apply my mission, vision, and green energy expertise. Buildings and cities are significant energy-consuming sectors. And the opportunity for implementing energy sustainability here in this field is yet to be tapped. Now, I work as a lab assistant in one of my university labs, where my main focus is to ensure energy optimization, reducing waste of energy by implementing modern technology and computational expertise like AI and IoT. In a nutshell, if you are needle-focused on your preference, you can make any field aligned with your area of interest.
Korea and Sungkyunkwan University
The university itself is very modern: QR attendance scanners, audiovisual equipment, libraries, study zones, etc. I literally can talk about how developed Sungkyunkwan is. The study experience is cool too - the uni has its own application alike MS Teams where you can track your progress, receive homework, participate in discussions and ask questions to the professor. The only thing that was interrupting was an issue that the governmental bodies didn’t have any adequate English-speaking assistance. And I’d say this is a usual Korean problem overall.
