Students begin their one-year MA in the world heritage city of Canterbury and relocate in the spring term to The American University of Rome, where the Kent programmes are hosted at their lovely campus atop the Janiculum Hill.
The programmes are taught entirely in English, with the possibility to develop language skills in Latin, Greek, and Italian during both the autumn term in Canterbury, and the spring term in Rome.
Visits to sites in Rome are included in all core modules and assessments reflect the additional resources available to Kent students in Rome.
Kent has an excellent postgraduate employability record: over 90% of our postgraduate students who graduated in 2012 found a job or further study opportunity within six months. Recent Kent at Rome graduates are now building careers with a range of public and private employers.
The American University of Rome can, if you wish, arrange accommodation for you. All Rome students spend their first term in Canterbury. Most Rome students decide to live on campus, as they want to have the campus experience and to fully make use of all facilities offered on campus (library, shops, cafés, theatre, cinema, sports centre…)
The main computer lab is located in Building A on the ground floor and is equipped with approx. 55 Windows-based PCs. All campus computers are networked to provide students with printing facilities and internet access over a high speed 100Mbit/s fibre optic connection.
In Rome and throughout Italy, pharmacies are marked with a red or green neon cross sign. There is a rotation system for nights and holidays and each pharmacy lists the closest open pharmacy. In Italian pharmacies you can find over-the-counter medicine for minor illnesses like colds and pains. The inventory is generally limited to pharmaceutical and personal hygiene products.
Our Rome postgraduate centre is based at The American University of Rome (founded 1969), which teaches subjects including Archaeology, Classics, and Cultural Heritage. The main campus is formed of two buildings, an auditorium and a spacious garden.
