The UCP is an attractive centre of teaching and research which hosts international students interested in studying in France during a semester, an academic year or a longer stay to obtain a degree.

Master's Programmes



  • 1991: creation of the University of Cergy-Pontoise (UCP).
  • January 1st, 2009: Autonomy regime with enlarged competences and enlarged responsibilities (RCE).
  • May 2010: creation of a joint foundation with 5 co-founders (UCP, Banque Populaire Rives de Paris, the District Council of Cergy-Pontoise, the Spie Batignolles Foundation and Orange CO).

Research and Development

  • 22 laboratories, among which 8 are associated with the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research), and 1 research federation dedicated to innovation and materials along with 5 technological platforms.

  • 1 Institute for Doctoral Studies (IED) including 3 Doctoral Schools (ED): “Law and Humanities“, “Science and Engineering“, “and Economy“, “Management and Mathematics“

You are a future international student of the University of Cergy-Pontoise, use the university’s housing platform on which you will be able to:

  • Find thousands of accommodations from private owners, halls of residence, real estate agencies, or rooms in private homes, close to the university.

Library services

University Library

  • 14,600 m2 allocated spaces.
  • 12,011 registered students with 1,816 seats available in 2012.
  • In 2010, the library was awarded the NoctamBU label for its weekly opening times of 65 hours on the main site of Les Cerclades, at Cergy-Prefecture.

Medical services

Health Insurance is compulsory in France. This gives access to medical care, hospitalization and doctors. Insurance coverage is divided into two parts:

  • Basic insurance is provided by the government and it covers 70% of your medical expenses.
  • Complementary insurance is not compulsory but if you opt for a complementary insurance this will cover the remaining medical expenses.

The University of Cergy-Pontoise is ideally located at 40-minute drive North West from Paris, and at 30 km from Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle international airport. The university is accessible by train, bus and highways.

Sports facilities

The Sports & Physical Activities Department offers:

  • physical activity & sports coaching for students, teaching staff and university employees ;
  • organisation & monitoring of physical activities & sports for all students as part of their course, including graduate & post-graduate qualifications in sport ;
  • university competition sports management in collaboration with the students’ sports association (ASUCP) ;
  • coaching for top-class sportsmen and women to facilitate training during their studies. The sports department is located beneath the overpass on the Les Chênes campus and is open to all the university’s students.

Student clubs

Cergy-Pontoise university is home to around 30 student associations. Joining an association can be a way to meet other students and share spe­cial moments. Many associations organize par­ties, sports events, conferences, shows, etc.
