Universität Münster

WWU Münster has developed a strong research profile in natural sciences, the humanities, medicine, law and business administration. It targets top-level research in high-performance areas for and combines this with promoting first-class young researchers. At the same time, by ensuring that broad research can be carried out it creates a secure basis on which excellence can thrive

A Jesuit seminary was founded in 1588. By the beginning of the 17th century, it was already offering philosophical-theological lectures, thereby laying the groundwork for the establishment of a university.

The University of Münster is one of the largest universities in Germany with a rich and time-honoured tradition. It enjoys an outstanding reputation in the region and far beyond. Fifteen faculties with 120 degree programmes and 27 research centres comprise the institutional backbone of the University.

The University of Münster supports cutting-edge research in high-performing areas. At the same time, its broad research spectrum has given rise to a unique interdisciplinary network within the University. The Cluster of Excellence "Religion and Politics" demonstrates how this interdisciplinary research approach works.

The Physics Branch Library houses the printed copies of various journals relevant to the department. Students and employees of the Department's EMU can also access a large number of these magazines directly in their workplace in electronic form .
