History
CEMFI is a leading institution in research and graduate education in economics in Europe. It was founded by the Bank of Spain in 1987 with the objective of promoting excellence in research and training of new generations of economists.
Education
CEMFI offers a high-quality graduate program leading to Master and PhD degrees in Economics. Some of our graduates have obtained Assistant Professorship positions in top institutions, such as MIT or LSE.
Research
CEMFI frequently participates in joint research projects and networks involving other research institutions in Europe. In addition, CEMFI faculty have won several highly competitive grants awarded by international and national funding agencies. These include five of the prestigious grants awarded by the European Research Council (ERC), as well as grants from the Russell Sage Foundation, the Fundación Ramón Areces, the regional Government of Madrid and the Government of Spain.

An Exceptional Journey: A Glowing Review of My Mar
I am delighted to provide a glowing review of the center where I have had the privilege to learn. The center's outstanding faculty, comprehensive curriculum, and commitment to practical experience have made my educational journey exceptional. The dedicated instructors bring deep expertise to the classroom and go the extra mile to ensure student success. The well-rounded curriculum covers a broad spectrum of marketing topics, preparing students for real-world challenges. A standout feature is the emphasis on practical experience through real-world projects, internships, and industry collaborations, allowing students to apply classroom learning effectively. State-of-the-art facilities and abundant resources enhance the overall learning experience. Additionally, the center's commitment to diversity and inclusivity fosters a supportive and collaborative environment, enriching the educational experience. In summary, my time at this center has been transformative, equipping me with both academic knowledge and practical skills. I highly recommend this center to anyone pursuing a career in marketing, as it truly stands as a hub of excellence in marketing education.
A unique experience
Positive university experience. The project-based learning pedagogy suits me and I have made great progress not only on the technical level, but also on the social and relational level. I am now quite comfortable speaking and I learned to work in a team and to provide quality work whatever the constraints and the people with whom I worked. however, some improvements can be made in terms of support for internship searches.

At the university you study more theory than in the short cycle, but both combine make me a great professional as I have knowledge in both theory and practice. I'm still sutdying, so I can become a more experienced specialist in all theese fields.

Campus life
CEMFI is located at Calle Casado del Alisal, number 5. We are in a beautiful listed building dating from 1887 which is located in a quiet and attractive area in the centre of Madrid close to the Prado Museum. It is surrounded by the Retiro Park and the Paseo del Prado, declared World Heritage Site in 2021. CEMFI is also close to the Banco de España, whose extensive library, specialized in economics, can be used by our faculty and students. We also have space with work areas in the adjacent building (Casado del Alisal, number 7).
