Founded on March 7, 1878 by Bishop Isaac Hellmuth (1817–1901) ‘The Western University of London Ontario’ opened its doors to students for the first time in 1881. Four faculties – Arts, Divinity, Law and Medicine were there at Western's inception.

The Instructional Technology Resource Centre supports faculty members who wish to integrate technology into their courses. Approved projects are assigned to student consultants who will work directly with faculty members to develop their ideas into e-learning tools. The ITRC has a diverse collection of software and hardware that can be used throughout the development process.
A Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) is provided for reimbursement of medical expenses. Medical Expenses as defined by Income Tax Regulations are eligible for reimbursement including premiums for other insurance programs, dental expenses, vision care expenses, drugs, hospital, supplies and many other items.
