About

History

The University of Applied Sciences Mainz (German: Hochschule Mainz), usually shortened to FH Mainz, is an 1971 founded university located in Mainz, Germany. The University of Applied Sciences Mainz consists of three faculties: School of Technology, School of Design and School of Business.

Education

Likewise, it is a matter of course for our courses to be internationally orientated. The exchange with other universities is particularly important in this respect. Integrated study programmes abroad, internationally accepted Master study programmes, the promotion of semesters abroad and exchange programmes for teachers as well as the intensification of language learning by students play a decisive role. We also tray to broaden the range of our lectures offered in English.

Apart from the research and third party funded projects of the individual faculties there are in the meantime seven independent research institutes at the University of Applied Sciences Mainz.

Career

The Career Center is a cross-faculty institution which is on the one hand the central interface of the University of Applied Sciences Mainz between companies and students and on the other hand a fundamental element of the course-related offers at the University of Applied Sciences Mainz which plays the role of a support partner for students with regard to their professional orientation and career entry.Job openings for students and graduates can be found on the internet pages of the faculties.

Services

Student services

We at the International Office will support you in your plans and are here for you before and during your stay here in Mainz. We offer assistance with an introduction to studying here (at the beginning of the summer and winter semester). In addition, tutors are also available to answer questions about everyday life, other organizational questions and, of course, questions about studying.

Housing services

All of the routes are short here: from Mainz as a university location to the banking metropolis of Frankfurt, from Hessen’s capital of Wiesbaden to the beautiful hills of Rhine-Hesse, from Frankfurt Airport to the rest of the world.

Mainz, the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, also has many attractive sides. Its beautiful location on the river and the historic old town are typical trademarks of the world-famous Gutenberg city, as are Fastnacht, wine, media and the Mainz 05 soccer club.

Library services

The library is one of the central university facilities. It offers university members comprehensive services for studying, teaching, research and further education. Alumni and external users can also use its services. The library is located at the two locations, Holzstraße and Campus.

I am studying at a University where we have lectures with about 30 students. I really like the fact that we are not only taught theoretical knowledge, but also application-oriented knowledge. I feel better prepared for the future. Our professors are very open-minded and we work a lot with current and future topics. There are of course some lectures which can be improoved...
