Ukhta State Technical University

History

The University was founded on the basis of the Ukhta Industrial Institute (the Institute was founded in 1967). By this time, more than 25000 engineers and economists had graduated in oil, geology, building, and timber industry majors. After the successful attestation on April 14, 1999, the Institute was granted a status of a State Technical University.

Education

Alumni — our engineers became mayors and ministers, heads of educational establishments, enterprises, and banks. 423 instructors and scientific workers teach at The University. Among them are 53 Professors with Doctors of Science and 213 Associate professors with Masters of Science. There are academicians and 4 corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Science, and Honored Scientists of the Republic of Komi.

Research

Ukhta State Technical University aims to be a leading centre of research expertise and dissemination of research findings in its strategic areas such as:

Development and perfecting techniques and technologies of rational forest resources in a climate of the Far North
Theory and metodology of further education in technical university

Well drilling in European North of Russia and many more

As well as making an important contribution to the body of knowledge, research and development at Ukhta State Technical University contributes to the constant improvement of academic programmes at the university.

Career

Oil and Gas Engineering

Our degree prepares you for a wide range of varied careers: drilling supervisor, geologists, mining engineer, repair and operation of offshore oil and gas wells, the controller in quality oil and oil operator in oil and gas, oil refining technologist.

Advertising and Public Relations

The department focuses on both economic and social aspects of advertising and public relations, preparing students to pursue careers in business, communications, mass media or a variety of other organizations.

Architecture

Architecture graduates do very well in careers that require mathematical precision, such as finance, accounting and computer programming.

Student services

Live Support

The support service for international students got available at USTU since July, 2016. Now you can contact us by phone, via Viber or WhatsApp by +79048648556 and ask any questions regarding study, accommodation, student life in Ukhta etc. being in Russia or abroad. If you install any of above mentioned applications (Viber or WhatsApp) on you gadget, you can contact us anywhere you are!

Housing services

Ukhta State Technical University at the moment has 14 dormitories, 13 dormitories of the University complex are designed for students. There are approximately over 2000 vacant places for every academic year.

The dormitory is a 5-storey building. Each floor houses around 24 people in total, spread across 8 units. The units (26 square meter) are made up of a hallway, a bathroom, a dining room and one bedroom. The units are designed to accommodate 3 people.

The rooms are equipped with beds, desks, chairs and wall shelves for each student. Every room has got a good access to Wi-Fi. Blankets, pillows and bed sheets are also provided to students.

Library services

Library of USTU has many printed books and manuscripts in its collections and provides access to more than 100 thousand electronic resources, including academic journals, monographs, dissertations, reference books, etc.

The Library's main goal is to ensure efficient library service and maintain all areas of education and research at Ukhta University.

ICT services

Free Internet access (wifi) is available on campus. The IT department provides IT support services for students and staff of the university.

Medical services

USTU possess 3 separate licensed medical units located one in a dorm and two in study buildings. All the units are equipped with the necessary instruments and devices for preventive health control.

The Student Union of Ukhta State Technical University is a form of student self government, which was created in order to ensure the realization of the rights of students to participate in the management of educational process, important issues of life of students, development of their social activities, support and implementation of social initiatives of youth.

The Student Union is primarily a team of like-minded people who want to get not only a highly specialized education in the profession, as well as to develop their leadership skills, obtain managerial and organizational skills.
