The Minister of Education Hon. Luigi Gui signed the decree of recognition of the Free Abruzzese University d'Annunzio "Gabriele Studies" in March 1965. The University was founded in 1961 based on a project from 1955.
Center of Excellence for Aging Sciences (Ce.S.I.), Institute of Advanced Biomedical Technologies (ITAB) and Center for Continuing Education (CEDUC) are also part of the University.
