Programme Structure

Curriculum Overview

  • Descriptive analytics are covered in MSA 5470, 5600, and 6440.   Predictive analytics is included in MSA 5020, 5160, 6440, and 6450.  The focus of MSA 6010 is on prescriptive analytics.  
  • Other courses cover areas that are essential to successful analytics implementations and applications including database management (MSA 5400), business intelligence (MSA 5600) and big data analytics (MSA 6500).  The focus of these courses is on applications and hands-on experience.   
  • The curriculum also includes a non-technical soft skills course, MSA 6600 Project Management, which is critical to ensuring that MSA graduates have the necessary management skills to be a successful business leader.

GPA admission requirements GPA Your GPA, or Grade Point Average, is a number that indicates how well or how high you scored in your courses on average. Usually a GPA scales between 1.0 and 4.0, however different countries and universities can have different grading systems.
GRE admission requirements GRE® The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. It contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.
GMAT admission requirements GMAT The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a test intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA. GMAT contains 4 sections - Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal. The score has a range from 200 - 800.

English requirements

TOEFL admission requirements TOEFL® IBT The TOEFL iBT® is given online through the internet at designated testing site. The test measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The score refers to the total score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading), each subject has a range of 0 - 30.
IELTS admission requirements IELTS The International English Language Test System (IELTS) tests your English-language proficiency on a scale of 1 – 9. The score refers to the combined average score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading).

  • Scanned copies of official or unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended. 
  • Minimum of a 3.0 undergraduate grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 grading scale is strongly recommended. 
  • Official scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). 
  • Statement of Purpose evaluating your preparation for graduate study in analytics and describing how the MSA program aligns with your professional objectives.
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation from individuals who have an understanding of your academic and/or professional accomplishments.
  • Current resume outlining educational background, leadership activities, community service, work experience, and any awards or honors.
  • Payment of application fee ($45 domestic applicants, $75 international applicants).
