The MRes Research in Health Professions Education programme at Swansea University gives you expert training in education research methods.

Your Research in Health Professions Education programme at Swansea University combines an initial, modular, taught element with supervised research by nominated supervisors. 

You will do three face-to-face taught modules which cover research methods, critical appraisal, and the application of those concepts to the education of healthcare professionals. 

You will also complete a portfolio in which you develop your research project, identify and address training needs and complete a reflective analysis of the likely impact of your proposed research on your field and on you as a practitioner and others.

Academic requirements

GPA admission requirements GPA Your GPA, or Grade Point Average, is a number that indicates how well or how high you scored in your courses on average. Usually a GPA scales between 1.0 and 4.0, however different countries and universities can have different grading systems.

IELTS admission requirements IELTS The International English Language Test System (IELTS) tests your English-language proficiency on a scale of 1 – 9. The score refers to the combined average score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading).

General requirements

  • Admission to either M.Res or D.Prof will normally require at least a 2:1 honors degree in an appropriate subject.  There is also provision for admission that takes into account work experience when the applicant have an undergraduate degree but not at a 2:1 honours level. Most applicants will have an equivalent qualification in an area of professional practice (e.g. B.Sc Nursing, MBBCh etc).
  • Applicants will be required to demonstrate English language proficiency according to Swansea University guidance for postgraduate programmes (IELTS Score 6.5/TOEFL 570)
