At the Dance MFA/MA program at York University students have access to courses in other disciplines such as Music, Anthropology, Visual Arts, English and History. In addition, there is a combined three-year program that leads to both the MA and MBA degree. Our combined emphasis on theoretical and practical approaches to dance is a strength of our program and graduates may be found working in a variety of fields including community, production, therapy, teaching, administrative and archival positions.
York's Dance MFA is unique — the only program in the world to offer research opportunities in both choreography and dance dramaturgy within the context of diverse contemporary dance practices. The MFA is aligned with the Dance Department’s pioneering BFA program (the oldest and largest of its kind in Canada) and builds on the 30-year history of York’s internationally recognized MA in Dance.
