About

You'll develop critical and analytical skills to provide appropriate technological and community-based responses to urbanisation issues such as:

  • infrastructure development
  • informal settlements
  • environmental degradation
  • ecological and economic requirements

This interdisciplinary program provides an intensive professional education that will equip graduates to work on sustainable urban development.

You will be prepared to work on international projects at the regional and/or local scale, for governments of emerging nations, development organisations, aid or emergency agencies and with professional consultancies.

The program is offered on campus and online. All core courses and some electives are offered online.

The Master of International Urban and Environmental Management (MC222) is accredited by the Planning Institute of Australia.On successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible for membership of the Urban and Regional Planning Chapter of the Planning Institute of Australia, with reciprocal membership of key international planning associations by selecting appropriate studies.To be eligible for membership you must successfully complete four core courses and six planning elective courses.     C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.5

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

You must have:
  • Successfully completed an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) with a minimum GPA 2.5 (out of 4.0), or
  • Significant work experience or professional practice
