About

The joint master in Economics of Globalisation and European Integration is a full-timethree-semester master program specialised in the broad field of international economics.

The academic year 2018-2019 will take place at Université Lille 1, Sciences et Technologies in Lille (France), at Vysoká škola ekonomická v Praze in Prague (Czech Republic) and at Università degli Studi di Bari ‘Aldo Moro’ in Bari (Italy).

The curriculum of the Joint Master Degree in Economics of Globalisation and European Integration is designed for outstanding international students seeking to improve their personal competence portfolio in the broad field of international economics, including themes related to globalisation (migration, governance, international relations or trade), using both the theoretical and empirical insights in recent developments in these areas.

There is a close link to policy practice thanks to the cooperation with partnering institutions such as the European Commission, the United Nations, think tanks (CEPS) or business companies (KBC, KPMG).                     

EGEI students end up in carreers in

EGEI alumni have over and again shown their ability to apply theoretical and practical problem solving skills in international settings. They are prepared for a career in an international context, as they get used to work during 1 year with people from different cultures. Friendships formed during the studies are incorporated into an alumni partnership network. EGEI graduates can use this network to look for internatonal partners, jobs or employees and informaton in all parts of the world.  

Accreditation

VUB is registered with the Flemish government of Belgium as an institution of higher education.
The VUB programmes are accredited by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO, Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatie Organisatie). This official organisation was established by an international treaty between the Flemish and the Dutch governments to ensure the quality of higher education in both the Netherlands and Flanders.

Academic Requirements

Academic requirements

The programme is open to students who have earned 240 ECTS credits in an economics or applied economics university study programme or have a bachelor degree in these areas that is considered by the Joint Studies Board to be equivalent.

Applicants that are enrolled in the final year of their academic programme should submit an official letter in English from their university confirming that the student is expected to finalise his/her course at the end of the current academic year, and submit up-to-date authenticated transcripts with the results of the previous years.

Language requirements

All prospective students need to provide a proof of sufficient knowledge of English by meeting one of the following criteria:

  • a diploma of secondary or higher education where English was the language of instruction
  • having successfully completed at least one school year of secondary education where English was the language of instruction
  • having successfully completed course units in higher education with a minimum total of 54 study credits where English was the language of instruction
  • having successfully completed ASO secondary education in Belgium
  • having successfully completed one of the following language tests
    • TOEFL: 213 computer-based, 80 internet-based
    • IELS: minimum level academic module 6,5
    • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE), grade B
    • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), grade C
    • Interuniversity Test of Academic English (ITACE) with a minimal level of B2 of the Common European Framework
