About

The Human Resource Management programme at Loughborough University is approved by the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD) and is ideal for those interested in developing a career in human resource management, employment relations, employee development or allied fields of management.

Overview

This  Human Resource Management programme at Loughborough University covers all the essentials of human resource management and develops your skills up to a strategic level, culminating in a dissertation. It includes the opportunity to undertake optional modules to tailor your degree in areas including employment relations, work design, learning and development and employment law. Students with a particular interest in employment relations can choose this as the theme of their dissertation, enabling a focused study supported by specialist tutors.

Our MSc Human Resource Management programme is taught by academics with both a strong track record in human resource management related research and practitioner HR experience. It focuses on developing critical thinking and analytical skills alongside more practical skills required for a career in people management. These practical skills include making presentations, role-play practice in handling challenging situations, and problem solving skills through case study analysis.

Careers

Most large and medium-sized organisations employ HR and personnel specialists, and the programme aims to prepare you for professional roles. You will be well equipped to bring expertise to both specialist HR and more general management roles in both private and public sector organisations.

Whilst studying you will be encouraged to become a student member of the CIPD, which will allow you to attend local branch meetings as well as national events, both of which offer excellent opportunities for networking.
