Overview

As a Master graduated from the Nanoscience programme from University of Jyväskylä you will

  • understand the importance of size and shape in nanoscale
  • understand properties of nano-objects in chemistry, biology and physics
  • know common fabrication and characterization methods for nano-objects
  • master experimental and/or or theoretical methods in his/her major subject for studying nano-objects
  • are able to plan and conduct research project
  • are able to write scientific report with good language
  • are able to perform scientific discussion and communicate scientific results

Career

Nanoscience and -technology are relatively new fields with a strong focus on opportunities for applications and innovations. A large portion of existing companies are interested in nanoscience and technology and increasing number of them are already using nanotechnology in their products.

This creates a need for experts in nanoscience, thus establishing potential for recruitment. Nanoscience is also a good platform for establishing start-up companies. Master degree in nanoscience provides also an excellent basis for postgraduate studies.

General requirements

  • Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in science (physics, chemistry, molecular bioscience or nanoscience) from a university with an internationally recognized academic standing, or equivalent qualifications. 
  • The applicant submits hard copies of application attachments to the University of Jyväskylä Admission Services, as per instructions. Instructions on submitting attachments will be published on the University’s website before the beginning of the admission round.
  • After the first phase, the highest-scoring applicants are invited to an interview, which is  be conducted online.
