The two-year MSc Sustainable Tropical Forestry (SUTROFOR) programme at University of Copenhagen gives you the best instruction in the field of tropical forestry in Europe. You work with the growing challenges in contemporary tropical forestry in a global context, and you aquire valuable real-life experience by doing field work in a tropical country.

Overview

During the programme, you acquire international experience and intercultural understanding that make you capable of working with tropical forestry in countries and cultures all over the world.

You become an expert in the connection between the exploitation of tropical forest and nature areas for profitable production that can benefit a local community on the one hand and the preservation of biodiversity and the environment for the benefit of the global society on the other hand.

Career opportunities

Graduates of the Sustainable Tropical Forestry (SUTROFOR) programme at University of Copenhagen work in companies or organisations dealing with sustainable tropical forestry, development and natural resources, such as for instance CARE or a consultancy company. Others work for NGOs, international organisations like WWF, FAO or UNEP, or in a ministry or governmental agency. Successful students will also be able to apply to high-level international PhD programmes.

General Requirements

Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in the following are directly academically qualified for admission to the MSc Programme:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Biology, Geography and Geoinformatics, Natural Ressources or Economics from the University of Copenhagen.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Agrobiology or Economics from Aarhus University.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or Geography from Aalborg University
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Technological and Socio-Economic Planning (TekSam-Miljøplanlægning), Natural Sciences or Geography as well as the International Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences from Roskilde University
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology from University of Southern Denmark.
