About

The event industry is one of the youngest and fastest growing industries in the world today, playing a key role in economic development and social wellbeing, and stimulating business and leisure travel - both nationally and internationally.

Throughout the course you will develop the professional and transferable skills you need to make your mark in this exciting and dynamic profession.

Wide-ranging expertise

Events span a huge range of activities, from highly-publicised international sporting events, concerts, charity fundraisers, corporate promotions, conferences and exhibitions, to performing arts and cultural festivals, national and regional events, and locally-run festivals.

The course brings together our established and internationally-recognised expertise in event studies, and business and management, to give you a solid grounding in the various concepts and issues, research techniques and examples of good and distinctive practice across this diverse field.

Industry experience

Gaining practical experience of working in events and festivals is a compulsory part of the course, providing you with invaluable industry experience. Being based in Bristol means you will have access to a year-round calendar of festivals and events, and be able to benefit from our many partnerships with event businesses and organisations in the area.

Careers / Further study

Careers in event management are diverse, and roles include working as an event organiser, conference centre manager or event marketing executive. There are opportunities to specialise in particular events and event types, including meetings and exhibitions, and sporting and cultural events.

The Events Management (PgCert / PgDip) programme at University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) will give you the broad-based skills and insights needed for a successful career within the industry. Networking with event organisers and other employers, and gaining hands-on experience, will stand you in good stead for shaping a successful events career.

You will have access to careers support while you are studying with us (and for three years after you graduate) through the University's careers service.
