Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Heritage Studies provides a preliminary understanding of heritage conservation and has been designed by heritage professionals within government, museums, universities and heritage agencies. Those who successfully complete the course may obtain credit towards the Graduate Diploma of Heritage Studies or Master of Heritage Studies.

Heritage Studies is a cross-disciplinary strategic research area at UWA, providing increased research opportunities and capabilities for students. You will study both tangible and intangible heritage including natural, cultural and Indigenous heritage. You'll learn to understand heritage issues and to work with industries and governments to record, manage, protect and present heritage objects, places and traditions in partnership with communities. Western Australia is heritage-rich, with 50,000+ years of tangible Indigenous heritage and vibrant intangible heritage traditions. This Heritage Studies course from The University of Western Australia is taught jointly through the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Education, and the School of Indigenous Studies.
